The selection was announced on 30 July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An absolute majority of the Slovak film community voted in favour of Martin Gonda&#8217;s feature-length debut, which also received the highest number of Sun in a Net Awards for 2025, winning six in total. The selection process was conducted in accordance with the rules established by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The film <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/flood\/\" id=\"38891\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flood<\/a><\/strong><\/em> is set in 1980, in communist Czechoslovakia. Mara dreams of leaving her village to study in the city and become a pilot. But her father, a Ruthenian farmer and widower, insists she stays and works the land.
