Its programme will feature two Slovak classics \u2013 Juraj Jakubisko\u2019s feature-length debut <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skcinema.sk\/arl-sfu\/sk\/detail-sfu_un_cat.0-000105-Kristove-roky-hrany-film\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Prime of Life<\/a><\/em> and the short animated film <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skcinema.sk\/arl-sfu\/sk\/detail-sfu_un_cat.0-010342-Pingvin-animovany-film\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Penguin<\/em><\/a> by Vladim\u00edr Popovi\u010d and Veronika Marg\u00f3tsyov\u00e1 \u2013 as well as over 20 contemporary Slovak films, including two co-produced by the Slovak Film Institute: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/life-or-film\/\" id=\"47737\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Life or Film<\/a><\/em> by Marek \u0160ul\u00edk and Juraj Johanides, and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/igor-and-after\/\" id=\"58297\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Igor and After<\/a><\/em> by Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skcinema.sk\/arl-sfu\/sk\/detail-sfu_un_cat.0-000105-Kristove-roky-hrany-film\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Prime of Life<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (1967), featured in the Cinematik Classics section, is an important film of the Slovak New Wave. The story follows Juraj, a thirty-something painter, who faces a series of life decisions as he realizes that he can no longer continue in his carefree life and needs to grow up. The film will be screened together with the environmentally themed animation <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skcinema.sk\/arl-sfu\/sk\/detail-sfu_un_cat.0-010342-Pingvin-animovany-film\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Penguin<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (1964).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Six films are up for awards at the Slovak documentary films competition, Cinematik.doc. <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/life-or-film\/\" id=\"47737\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Life or Film<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, which brings us closer to the work and thinking of Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k, will have its world premiere at the festival. Two other competition titles also feature filmmakers: <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/igor-and-after\/\" id=\"58297\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Igor and After<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, which premiered at the recent Karlovy Vary IFF, was shot during the last months of the life of cinematographer Igor Luther (the cinematographer of, among others, <em>The Prime of Life<\/em>), while <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/the-invisible-jan-gogola\/\" id=\"58240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Invisible Jan Gogola<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Marek Jani\u010d\u00edk) is take a closer look at the life and work of dramaturgist Jan Gogola. The film <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/milota\/\" id=\"40874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Milota<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. team of authors) is a portrait of the prominent Slovak photographer Milota Havr\u00e1nkov\u00e1. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Krupa\u2019s film <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/we-have-to-survive\/\" id=\"40355\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">We Have to Survive<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, about coping with climate change and shot on four continents, has already had a successful festival run. <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/my-fathers-daughter\/\" id=\"44607\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">My Father\u2019s Daughter<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Lea Podhradsk\u00e1 is her personal journey to find a sister she hasn\u2019t seen in 27 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The non-competitive section Slovak Horizon will feature the world premiere of <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/the-general\/\" id=\"54234\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">General Golian<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Juraj \u0160tepka) about this important figure of the Slovak National Uprising. <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/the-general\/\" id=\"54234\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">General Golian<\/a><\/em><\/strong> will also be the festival\u2019s opening film. On the other hand, the closing film will be Marko \u0160kop\u2019s new film <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/for-love\/\" id=\"44638\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">For Love<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, a psychological drama about a woman confronted with a form of love she has never known before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The festival will host the Slovak premiere of <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/if-pigeons-turned-to-gold\/\" id=\"39712\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">If Pigeons Turned to Gold<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Pepa Lubojacki), a documentary about family and addiction that won two awards at this year\u2019s Berlinale. Martina Buchelov\u00e1\u2019s debut about the search for love among contemporary twenty-somethings, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/lover-not-a-fighter\/\" id=\"38800\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lover, Not a Fighter<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, was awarded in Karlovy Vary. Four more films from the Cinematik programme premiered at the Czech A-list festival: the hybrid film about racism and intergenerational trauma <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/33-steps\/\" id=\"58140\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">33 Steps<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dirs. Anna Dom\u010dek, \u0160imon Dom\u010dek); the documentary about Ukrainian veterans <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/to-die-to-live\/\" id=\"39390\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">To Die to Live<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Yuliia Hontaruk); <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/the-pint-of-ink\/\" id=\"58154\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A Pint of Ink<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Ester Geislerov\u00e1) about the search for the traces of the director&#8217;s father Peter Geisler; and the feature film about the search for identity <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/city-of-fathers\/\" id=\"47741\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">City of Fathers<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Zden\u011bk Tyc).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the film premiere at the CPH:DOX, Slovak audiences will have a chance to see <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/becoming-ema\/\" id=\"40294\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Becoming Ema<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Patricia Drati about a young woman who defied her parents\u2019 and societal expectations. The festival will also screen the Slovak submission for the Oscars, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/flood\/\" id=\"38891\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flood<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Martin Gonda. As part of the section, two Slovak film academies will present their recent output. The Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava will showcase six films: <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/journey-of-the-stars\/\" id=\"56439\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Journey of the Stars<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Klaudia Grancov\u00e1), <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/bubble\/\" id=\"56427\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bubble<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Wanda Przeworska), <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/seablindness\/\" id=\"46410\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seablindness<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Tereza Smetanov\u00e1), <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/this-room-is-impossible-to-eat\/\" id=\"46429\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This Room Is Impossible to Eat<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Em\u00edlia Ondria\u0161ov\u00e1), <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/315-and-me\/\" id=\"56485\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">315 and Me<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Rebeka Bizubov\u00e1) and <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/how-to-listen-to-fountains\/\" id=\"47841\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How to Listen to Fountains<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Eva Sajanov\u00e1). The Academy of Arts in Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica will be represented by: <strong><em>To My Father<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Mat\u00fa\u0161 G\u00e1lik), <strong><em>Everything Is as It Should Be<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Gabriel Urban) and <strong><em>Vabank<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Michal Bartek). In the Other Spaces section, we can also find the sensitive coming-of-age drama <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/the-last-season\/\" id=\"56667\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Last Season<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir.
