The Week in Film is the designated title of the newsreels that were screened prior to every film shown in Czechoslovak cinemas for more than four decades. These consisted of sets of short news items or publicist´s reports; their primary role was to capture the most significant and most current events and topics in society over the course of the previous week. The content of the collection of five DVDs comprises 50 issues of these newsreels dating from 1945 to 1990. The newsreels are separated into the individual decades, each of which is represented on the respective DVD by ten issues.
