Synopsis
The documentary Heavy Heart is a view into the world of traditional Roma music. In three stories, the film’s authors attempt to trace how authentic sorrowful songs are passed down from generation to generation, or how they disappear. It is always about the relationship between children and their parents or grandparents, as music is an important emotional catalyst especially for a Roma family. The documentary intermezzos are complemented by the tragicomic situations which occurred over the course of the research journeys of the ethnomusicologist Jana Belišová and her team.
