The European Film Academy (EFA) has nominated two Slovak films in the prestigious selection of the best of European cinema released between June 2021 and the end of May 2022. Petr Kerekes’ film 107 Mothers is nominated in the European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI category, while Diana Cam Van Nguyen’s short Love, Dad got nomination in the European Short Film category.
Cottbus Film Festival (8 – 13 November 2022), which is one of the most important events focusing on Eastern European cinema, starts today. It will bring 12 Slovak films.
Prestigious Amsterdam documentary film festival IDFA (9 – 20 November 2022) will present one Slovak film in this year’s program and there is even more Slovak participants at the industry events.
26th edition of Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (25 – 30 October 2022) will honour Dušan Hanák with Contribution to World Cinema Award. Festival will also present 19 Slovak films, multiple of them in world premiere.
65th edition of International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film (17 – 23 October 2022) will present nine Slovak film in the program.
The Lumière Festival in Lyon (15 – 23 October 2022) is one of the largest and most respected international festivals of the classic film. Slovak cinema in this year’s program will be represented by Martin Hollý’s digitally restored film A Case for the Defence Attorney (1964). This is the fifth digitally restored film from the collections of the National Film Archive of the SFI that festival has selected for its program.
The 38th edition of the Warsaw Film Festival will take place from 14 to 22 October 2022. It will present new Slovak feature thriller Shadowplay directed by Peter Bebjak in the international premiere within the International Competition section.
Kids Kino Industry and Cinekid for Professionals once again join forces for the second edition of Producers LINK, a programme for emerging producers of children’s content. The programme is designed to stimulate the production of top-quality children’s content and pan-European co-productions, providing crucial follow-up both during and after these two leading autumn kids events. Slovak producer Agáta Jeleneková will take part in the programme.
The 35th edition of the Finále PlzeňFestival (September 23 – 28, 2022) will present 24 Slovak films, of which 9 within the competition sections.
