Synopsis
The story of the friendship between Silvester Krčméry and Vladimír Jukl, who were known as the “generals of the secret church”. They founded “hobby groups”, small islands of freedom where people could think and believe freely during totalitarianism. They were already critical of The First Slovak Republic. After the advent of communism, they were persecuted and spent many years in prison. Their efforts culminated with the Candle Demonstration, which was attended by thousands of people who protested non-violently against the regime. Their movement later became actively involved in the Velvet Revolution.
