Synopsis
A film made up of archive footage from the 1968 occupation of Czechoslovakia by the Warsaw Pact armies, told from the perspective of the occupier – the unknown soldier of the title of the film. The director’s great-uncle was one of the soldiers in the Soviet occupying army that invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968. He couldn’t bear the guilt and when he returned home to Ukraine, he committed suicide. His story could be the story of any young soldier who happened to stand on a tank in August 1968 in Czechoslovakia.
