Mgr. Art. Peter Dubecký
graduated from the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts. He has held the post of General Director of the Slovak Film Institute since 1998. He also holds important positions in several other institutions of the Slovak audiovisual and cultural environment. He is a member of the Presidium of the Slovak Film and Television Academy, Chairman of the Management Board of the Academy of Performing Arts, member of the Scientific and Artistic Board of the Film and Television Faculty at the Academy of Performing Arts and Vice-President of the Slovak Association of Producers in Audiovision. He has been a member of the committee granting the Award of the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament for the Development of Culture and Humanitarian Education since 2007; in 2012, he was appointed to the Ministerial Coordination Group which is a direct advisory body of the Minister of Culture within the national OPIS project.
In 1993, he became Chairman of the Association of Slovak Film Clubs as one of its main founders and he acted as its statutory representative up to 15 August 2010 (he is currently Honorary Chairman). He was also one of the original group that established the IFF Febiofest and he remains its director for Slovakia to date. He has been a member of various juries at many important local and foreign film festivals. He holds several prestigious awards, e.g. the Gold Medal of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (for long-standing efforts to achieve Czecho-Slovak mutuality in cinematography), the Annual Award of the Association of Czech Film Clubs, the KRISTIAN Award granted every year by the IFF Febiofest Prague, or the Golden Kingfisher Award from the FINALE PLZEŇ Film Festival.
