On April 30, 2019 the internationally renowned Kino Tuškanac in Zagreb will screen Pictures of the Old World by Dušan Hanák and a program of Slovak experimental documentary shorts made in 1960s and 1970s.
The fifth edition of Slovak Film Week (April 6 – 12, 2019) will present over thirty Slovak fiction, non-fiction, and animated films that were released in 2018. Moreover, the showcase offers a solid line-up of accompanying events.
The 26th edition of International Film Clubs Festival Febiofest (March 20 – 26, 2019), with the theme „Evil in film“, has prepared a program which includes shorts by young emerging talents, Slovak audiovisual heritage, experimental works as well as the screenings dedicated to the youngest audience.
The 20th edition of Bratislava International Film Festival (November 29 – December 2, 2018) has prepared a selection of contemporary Czech and Slovak Cinema. Most of the selected films were made in Czech-Slovak co-production as a result of the natural continuation of the filmmaking cooperation between the two neighboring countries after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the state whose 100th foundation anniversary we celebrate this year.
Spa town Piešťany will welcome International Film Festival Cinematik (September 11 – 16, 2018) for the 13th time! Every year, Cinematik picks one country of focus to introduce its films and filmmakers. This edition will be exploring the cinema of Norway, although many Slovak and co-production films will be presented as well. In the House and Cinematik.doc sections will screen 22 titles.
11th edition of Fest Anča International Animation Festival (June 28 – July 1, 2018) will focus on domestic animated films. The festival programme contains works of several generations of Slovak filmmakers, contemporary animations within various competetive sections and archive films that belong to National Film Archive collection of Slovak Film Institute.
The 26th edition of Art Film Fest (June 15 – 23, 2018) has prepared an appealing programme with a number of Slovak films. International film festival will present contemporary Slovak cinema mainly within Slovak Season section, archive films will commemorate events of great significance and historical milestones as the 100th anniversary of The Founding of Czechoslovakia and a major figure of Slovak filmmaker Fero Fenič as well.
25th edition of International Film Clubs Festival Febiofest (March 15 – 29, 2018) will kick off in a few days. Touring festival starts in Bratislava and then continues to Banská Bystrica, Kežmarok, Košice, Levice, Martin, Poprad, Prešov, Prievidza, Trenčín and Trnava.
Winter Film Festival 4 elements will take a place in Banská Štiavnica at the end of winter (February 23 – 25, 2018). The festival will traditionally enrich the long weekend with live-action films, documentaries, animations, master classes, concerts and visual art. The topic of this edition – The Beginning – will bring the Slovak shorts into the programme, as most filmmakers start their careers with making the short films.
