International Film Festival One World is well known to focus on inclusion in and social impact of cinema. This year’s festival programme includes multiple new Slovak films, while Impact Days are dedicated to the impact campaigns. The festival takes place in Bratislava and online on November 3 – 9, 2023.
Eight Slovak films are up for the awards in the main competition called Slovakia and Czech Republic for Human Rights, including two screened in Slovak premiere: 15x15x5 (minisalon 1984) (dir. Janek Q Růžička) and The World According to My Dad (dir. Marta Kovářová). The other films in the competition are: Notes from Eremocene (dir. Viera Čákanyová), Photophobia (dir. Ivan Ostrochovský, Pavol Pekarčík), A Happy Man (dir. Soňa G. Lutherová), The Shift (dir. Jaro Vojtek), Territory of Imagination (dir. Paula Maľárová), and All Men Become Brothers (dir. Robert Kirchhoff).
Short animation Criss Cross, directed by Nina Rybárová and Tomáš Rybár will be screened to the youngest audience. Eight short films made during My Street Films SK workshop are part of the programme as well.
Industry programme Impact Days is once again focused on social impact of the cinema and includes multiple masterclasses and discussions. Three film projects are taking part in the workshop that will help them create impact campaigns: Noví susedia (dir. Pavol Kohút), The Valley of the Widows (dir. Miro Jelok, Katarína Jonisová), and Začnite s vysťahovaním! (working title) (dir. Eduard Cicha, Dominik Jursa).
