The SFI Library constitutes a part of the Documentation and Library Services Department of the National Film Archive. It is the only library specialising in filmological literature in Slovakia. It contains books, scripts, periodicals, audio documents and electronic documents. It focuses on the acquisition of local and foreign publications directed at Slovak cinema and audiovision. It provides services to registered users of the Documentation and Library Services Department in accordance with the SFI’s Library and Loan Regulations. The Library’s basic functions include loan services within the Library’s study room and outside of it, i.e. in the case of books with the exception of encyclopaedias, dictionaries or pictorial publications. The books are loaned for one calendar month and it is possible to borrow a maximum of five books at any one time. For orientation purposes, the Library has traditional card catalogues available (title catalogue of periodicals, name and systematic catalogue of books, name and title catalogue of scripts and others). The Library’s catalogue is currently in preparation in electronic form within the SK CINEMA project. Various bibliographic sources created in the SFI are also available on the Library premises for searching for information on articles in newspapers and magazines. These sources include bibliographic records of articles in periodicals also in electronic form from 2000 onwards, in particular records of texts related to Slovak cinema and audiovision.
