The Slovak nomination for the Best International Feature Film Award of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), also known as the Oscar, is Let There Be Light by Marko Škop.
The Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) granted the Slovak national film awards The Sun in a Net 2019 on Friday, April 5. The most awarded film was The Interpreter (d. Martin Šulík) which won six prizes including the one for Best Fiction Film. Documentarian Marek Kuboš won Best documentary for The Last Self-Portrait and directors Katarína Kerekesová and Ivana Šebestová won Best Animation for the TV special Mimi & Lisa – Christmas Lights Mystery.

Slovak National Film Awards The Sun in a Net 2019 will be announced Friday, April 5, 2019 during the Gala ceremony, broadcasted live on TV channel Jednotka (RTVS).
Members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) voted in a first round and selected nominees for the Slovak National Film Awards The Sun in a Net 2016 in particular categories. Slovak films premiered in 2014 and 2015 compete for this award. The members of the Academy selected the films from 13 feature films, 19 documentaries and 10 animation films.
The Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) nominated two Slovak films for the European Film Awards – feature fiction debut Children by Jaro Vojtek and documentary also directed by Vojtek So Far, So Near.
For the second time, the competition sections of Finale Plzen (Pilsen, Czech Republic) were opened for Slovak films to participate in the Festival´s four official competitions and scored two of the main Golden Kingfisher awards: for the Best Documentary and the Best TV Serial Production.
