Members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) voted in the first round and selected nominees for the Slovak National Film Awards The Sun in a Net 2016 in particular categories. Slovak films premiered in 2014 and 2015 are eligible for the award. The members of the Academy were considering 13 feature films, 19 documentaries and 10 animation films.
Most nominations went to: Eva Nová (dir. Marko Škop, 9 nominations), Koza (dir. Ivan Ostrochovský, 6 nominations) and films Children (dir. Jaro Vojtek), The Cleaner (dir. Peter Bebjak), Fair Play (dir. Andrea Sedláčková), Wilson City (dir. Tomáš Mašín) have 3 nominations each.
The Sun in a Net 2016 Gala Ceremony will take place on April 16, 2016 in the historical building of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava. The Slovak National Awards ceremony is held witihin the Slovak Film Week.
