The Film Festival Cottbus has begun (November 5 – 10). This year, it also features a rich representation of Slovak films, also thanks to a section focusing on works by young Czech female directors.
Dok Leipzig, International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film (October 28 – November 3, 2024), has long been an important event for the cinema of Central and Eastern Europe. This year, too, it will present several Slovak films in its program, two of which are competing for the Golden and Silver Doves.
As always, the International Documentary Films Festival in Jihlava gives a lot of space to Slovak cinema. It will not be any different at the 28th edition (October 25 – November 3, 2024), whose opening film will be Ms. President.
The theme of the 12th year of the Czech & Slovak Film Festival Australia (CaSFFA) is Labyrinth. The festival will take place in the cities of Melbourne and Adelaide and will bring to the big screens 13 Slovak films.

In addition to the film festival, which takes place in over twenty locations across Poland and online, it offers a professional program for film industry experts – Young Horizons Industry. This year, Slovakia has a significant presence at both parts.
Finale Plzeň is an annual showcase of contemporary Czech film and TV production. The program of the 37th edition, which takes place on September 20 – 25, 2024, includes a number of Slovak films.
At the 81st Venice International Film Festival (August 28 – September 7, 2024), the documentary film Wishing on a Star, directed by Peter Kerekes, will have its world premiere. As part of the program for film professionals, the upcoming film Becoming Ema will also be presented.
