Clermont-Ferrand international Short Film Festival (January 29 – February 6, 2021), one of the world’s largest and most prestigious film festivals dedicated to short films, adopts online format. Slovakia will be represented within Short Film Market (February 1 – 5, 2021).
This year’s edition of International Documentary Festival Fipadoc Biarritz in France is focusing on Visegrad countries.
The biennal film event Slovak Film Days in Moscow starts on Monday, 7 December 2020. The showcase based on the contract on cultural cooperation between the Slovak and the Russian Ministry of Culture will run until Sunday, 13 December and will present seven Slovak films.
Better late than never, goes the saying. The Czech and Slovak Film Festival in Australia that usually takes place in Autumn/Australian Spring moved its 8th Melbourne edition to early Winter/Australian Summer 2020 and changed the usual cinema theatres for Village Cinemas Coburg Drive-In and online platform.
The 24th Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (October 27 – November 8, 2020) will take place online. The program will feature several Slovak and co-production films including three world premieres.
The Warsaw Film Festival opens today its 36th year (October 9 – 18, 2020) regularly but under the slogan “We keep social distancing, we wear maks, and we go to cinema”, because of the currently unstable pandemic situation. The program will present also five Slovak feature films, including the world premiere of The Man with Hare Ears.
The digitally restored film Night Riders (1981) by Martin Hollý will world premiere at the of one of the largest and most respected international festivals of the classic film Lumière Festival in Lyon (October 10 – 18, 2020). This is the fourth digitally restored film from the collections of the National Film Archive of the SFI that festival has selected for its program in the past four years.
The 49th Lubuskie Film Summer (August 30 – September 6, 2020), the International Film Festival of Central and Eastern European Cinema, will present multiple Slovak films of the past two years.
UK-based company Second Run has published so far five Slovak films licensed by the Slovak Film Institute (SFI). The latest entry, feature debut of Martin Šulík Tenderness (1991), will world premiere on Blu-ray on August 10, 2020.
