The jubilee 25th International Film Festival in Kolkata (November 8 – 15, 2019) will present five feature films by Dušan Hanák who will also be the chairman of the International Competition jury.
Dušan Hanák Retrospective consists of five feature films: a psychological story about the disease of the individual and the society 322 (1969), renowned documentary Pictures of the Old World (1972), tragicomedy Pink Dreams (1976) about a village postman Jakub and Gipsy girl Jolanka. Following with I Love, You Love (1980) work that shows the life of people living on the periphery ofsociety, and closing with the documentary Paper Heads (1995) that reflects the relation between the citizen and power declaring various forms of violation of human rights in Czechoslovakia between 1945 and 1989.
Slovak director will attend all screenings in person and will chair the International Competition: Innovation in Moving Images jury. Within the section, Slovak co-production The Painted Bird by Václav Marhoul will vie for the prize.
The festival will also be attended by Vanda Vacvalová (SFI sales).
