The Slovak Film and Television Academy will present the national awards for the best films and creative achievements of Slovak cinematography for the thirteenth time. The ceremonial announcement of the national film awards The Sun in a Net for the year 2024 will take place on April 16, 2025, at the Slovak Radio premises.
A record-breaking total of 49 film and television works were submitted. Fourteen films were submitted in the Best Fiction Film category, 15 films in the Best Documentary Film category, 5 films in the Best Animation category, and 8 audiovisual works in the Best Television Film / Miniseries / Series category. A new addition is the Best Short Fiction or Documentary Film category, for which creators submitted 7 works.
The films Waves (nominated in 14 categories) and The Hungarian Dressmaker (nominated in 12 categories) received the most attention from the Slovak Film and Television Academy. The film The Dormant Account received seven nominations. All three films are also nominated in the Best Fiction Film category.
The nominees for Best Documentary Film are Czechoslovak Architecture 58–89 (dir. Jan Zajíček), Ms. President (dir. Marek Šulík), and Wishing on a Star (dir. Peter Kerekes).
In the Best Animation category, the feature film Living Large (dir. Kristina Dufková) and the short films Free the Chickens (dir. Matúš Vizár) and Hello Summer (dir. Martin Smatana, Veronika Zacharová) are nominated.
