Slovak Nomination for the Oscars is The Hungarian Dressmaker

The Slovak nomination for the Best International Feature Film Award of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), also known as the Oscar, is The Hungarian Dressmaker by Iveta Grófová.

The submission for the Oscars International Feature Film Category is based on the voting of the members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy. SFTA members have chosen among 10 films which met the AMPAS conditions:

Marika, a Hungarian widow dressmaker shelters a Jewish boy in her home on the Slovak-Hungarian border during the turbulent years of World War 2 and the Wartime Slovak State.

The film premiered at the Karlovy Vary IFF 2024.

The 97th Oscars ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Oscars Nominations Announcement will be hold on Friday, January 17, 2025.
