During its 31st year, the International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava (March 13 – 19, 2024) will present 14 films, various in Slovak premiere.
Four Slovak co-productions are in the competition section of feature films called In the Heart of Europe: Mr. and Mrs. Stodola (dir. Petr Hátle), You Will Never See It All (dir. Štěpán Pech), Solitude (dir. Ninna Pálmadóttir), and Explanation for Everything (dir. Gábor Reisz) – a film that won the main prize from the Orizzonti section last year in Venice.
This year’s Out of Competition section brings out the Dry Season (dir. Bohdan Sláma), which will premiere on Monday evening after the Bratislava Industry Days Works in Progress award ceremony.
In the competition section of short films In the Heart of Europe will be presented: Gritty Eyes (dir. Juraj Janiš), Constant – an Homage to the Apartment (dir. Paula Ďurinová), Swaggiest of the Swaggiest (dir. Martina Buchelová, Debora Pastirčáková) and Tapping Black Boots (dir. Christian Wellbo, Kaoru Furuko).
The Children’s Film Cabinet section will offer a rich program for the little ones, including the screenings of Criss Cross (dir. Nina Rybárová, Tomáš Rybár), Suzie in the Garden (dir. Lucie Sunková) and The Pit (dir. Markéta Smolíková Kubátová).
The last day, the portfolio will be completed by Jaro Vojtek’s short film 168, which will be followed by a discussion, and Stanislav Barabáš’s classic film The Bells Toll for the Barefooted (CS, 1965).
