A debut feature OUT by György Kristóf has been selected for the Un Certain Regard at the jubilee 70th edition of Cannes IFF (May 17 – 28, 2017). The road movie of a tall, family man venturing through Eastern Europe in desperate attempt to get a job and fulfil his dream was made in Slovak-Hungarian-Czech co-production.
Atlantis, 2003 student film by Michal Blaško will represent Slovak cinema at the jubilee 70th edition of Cannes IFF (May 17 – 28, 2017). This short film tells the story of a young couple – Martin and Denisija – from Ukraine, who are trying to get illegally to Germany, and will be introduced within Cinéfondation, one of the most prestigious competitions for short films.
This year during the Cannes IFF, Slovakia will be represented in the Producers on the Move (organized by the European Film Promotion, Slovak Film Institute being a member), as well: the Slovak “POM” is Marek Urban (sentimentalfilm).
As the first in Slovak history, the feature debut OUT by György Kristóf, was selected for the 11th Cinéfondation L’Atelier, which is a part of the prestigious Cannes IFF. The film was invited among the 15 most promising projects from the whole world.
The Slovak-Czech animation short The Pandas by Matúš Vizár marks great success at the Croisette: awarded with 7.500 €, it received the 3rd prize ex-aequo in the Cinéfondation section at Cannes IFF.
