This year during the Cannes IFF, Slovakia will be represented in the Producers on the Move (organized by the European Film Promotion, Slovak Film Institute being a member), as well: the Slovak “POM” is Marek Urban (sentimentalfilm).
Marek is following the footsteps of the previous Slovak “POMs” – Mátyás Prikler (MPhilms), Mira Fornay (MIRAFOX), Michal Kollár (Sokol Kollar), Silvia Panáková (ARINA), Marko Škop (Artileria), Peter Kerekes (Peter Kerekes) and Marek Veselický (Farbyka).
Marek Urban (*1977)
After graduating from Bratislava’s Academy of Performing Arts, Marek Urban and fellow student Ivan Ostrochovský set up sentimentalfilm in 2004. His productions included award-winning documentaries – Erika Hniková’s Matchmaking Mayor, as well as Juraj Nvota’s fiction film Hostage and Music. Marek saw Ostrochovský’s boxer drama Koza premiering at this year’s Berlinale’s Forum, and he is now preparing on new projects by Gyorgy Kristof, Juraj Lehotský and Miro Remo.
