Members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) voted in a first round and selected nominees for the Slovak National Film Awards The Sun in a Net 2016 in particular categories. Slovak films premiered in 2014 and 2015 compete for this award. The members of the Academy selected the films from 13 feature films, 19 documentaries and 10 animation films.
The Bratislava International Film Festival opens its 17th edition. The festival will be held on Nov 12 – 17 in three municipal and club cinema theatres: Lumiére Cinema, Mladosť Cinema and Nostalgia Cinema. A rich programme presenting the best of European cinema will introduce more than twenty Slovak titles or films by Slovak filmmakers.
The Academy of Perfroming Arts was hosting the Student Film Festival Áčko again. Its 19th edition was held from October 14 to 17.
The jubilee 10th edition of Film Festival Cinematik took place on Sept 10 – 15 2015 in Piešťany.
International Animation Festival Fest Anča (June 24 – 28, 2015) will host the Industry Platform for the professional animators again.

The 23rd edition of the Art Film Fest IFF Trenčianske Teplice, Trenčín will be held on June 19 – 26 2015. This year´s volume attracts audience to films awarded at respected festivals, though traditionally do not forget about Slovak films.
After years of gradual growth of Slovak film production, the time has come for a new yearly showcase of domestic cinema.
