For the first time, Slovak film classics are released on DVD for the UK market. The Sun in a Net by Štefan Uher is the first title of the Slovak film series presented in the collection of Second Run.
On February 21, 2013, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington, DC screened the pioneering film The Sun in a Net (1962) of director Štefan Uher. The screening opened a film series entitled The Golden 60s of Czechoslovak Cinema that was prepared by the Embassies of the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic in the United States.
Slovak animation is not just about Viktor Kubal. The guests and visitors of the International Festival of Animation Films Animateka in Ljubljana will be able discover various animation filmmakers this edition.
The 19th edition of the Listapad IFF, taking place in Minsk, Belarus, will be giving a significant space for Slovak films in its programme this year: during November 2 – 9, 2012, it will welcome Slovak films in competition, non-competitive and retrospective sections.
The 14th edition of the Cinema at the Border film showcase, taking place in Český Těšín and Cieszyn at the Czech-Polish border, April 28 – May 3, 2012, will honour Slovak film director Štefan Uher.
