Young Horizons Industry and Cinekid for Professionals welcome seventeen European producers selected for the third edition of Producers LINK. The programme is designed to stimulate the production of top-quality children’s content and pan-European co-productions, providing crucial follow-up both during and after these two leading autumn young audience events. Slovak director and producer Andrej Kolenčík is among this year’s participants.
Once again this year, the program of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (Jan 25 – Feb 4, 2024) featured several Slovak films. Explanation for Everything was showcased in the Harbour section, and young audiences had a chance to see the animated shorts The Kite and My Name Is Edgar and I Have a Cow.
Slovak filmmakers are set to make a mark at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (2– 10 February 2024). Two remarkable short films from Slovakia, Cold and Dark by Peter Hošták and Criss Cross by Nina Rybárová and Tomáš Rybár, have been selected to participate in different competition sections, showcasing the diverse talent emerging from the Slovak film industry.
The European Children’s Film Association (ECFA) will present awards for the best films of 2023 in three categories at the 74th Berlinale. Two Slovak co-productions, Even Mice Belong to Heaven and Tony, Shelly and the Magic Light, have been nominated for the 2024 ECFA Award as well. The winners will be determined by the members of the Association.
