The 19th Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris (March 20 – April 3, 2014), one of the most anticipated and respected cultural events in Lithuania, is certainly a great venue for Slovak films.
Last year, My Dog Killer by Mira Fornay brought home the Award for the Best Director, and this year, in the International Competition New Europe – New Names Juraj Lehotský and his second feature Miracle (2013) represents Slovak cinema. Juraj will present the film in Vilnius, together with the scriptwriter Marek Leščák.
In the international short film competition, Homo Ciris (2013) Jana Mináriková and The Pandas (2013) by Matúš Vizár take the challenge among 29 selected shorts. Pandas will be supported by the presence of the producer Peter Badač (Bfilm, Slovakia).
Festival section Critics´ Choice shows 15 films selected by sever prominent international film critics, and among them the Velvet Terrorists (2013), by Pavol Pekarčík, Ivan Ostrochovský and Peter Kerekes, already awarded by FEDEORA critics´ at Karlovy Vary IFF 2013, as well as by audiences, namely the readers of Tagespiegel at Berlinale 2014.
The Exhibition (2013) by Peter Begányi and Andrej Kolenčík is shown in the Shorts showcase, under the title Joke Black.
The fifth edition of the festival´s Industry forum Meeting Point Vilnius will host a special program, attended by several Slovak film professionals.
The New Europe – New Names Jury will also include the film programmer and critic of Slovak origin Ľudmila Cviková.
