The festival year 2015 for Slovak films starts at Trieste Film Festival (January 17 – 22, 2015). Focused on quality films from the Central and Eastern Europe and Italy, in the programe of its 26th edition the festival presents the Italian premieres of two successful Slovak films on the last year.

Velvet Terrorists, documentary by the director trio Pavol Pekarčík, Ivan Ostrochovský and Peter Kerekes, awarded at Berlinale’s Forum 2014 with the Tagesspiegel Readers’ Award, is presented in the International Documentary Competition. The film will be personally introduced by Peter Kerekes.

In Silence by Zdeněk Jiráský is presented within the TFF Art & Sound section, a showcase dedicated to contaminations between cinema and contemporary art, with a focus also on music documentaries. The film started its festival life with a special world premiere screening at Karlovy Vary IFF 2014 and has since toured the festival world, including Chicago, Thessaloniki and many more.

The Eastweek Workshop Selection features young Slovak filmmaker Katarína Vargová with her project Sketch.

Trieste co-production forum When East Meets West 2015 is dedicated to connecting projects and film professionals from Eastern Europe and English-speaking countries (UK, Ireland, Canada, United States of America) and will also be attended by several Slovak film producers and representatives of film institutions.
