Three Slovak co-productions will be presented at the 40th edition of Cinekid Festival (10–25 October 2026), one of the largest and most highly regarded film festivals dedicated to children and young audiences.
The Best Children’s Film Competition will feature the Dutch premiere of Extraordinary, a family feature film directed by Marina Andree Škop and Vanda Raýmanová. The adventure film had its world premiere earlier this year at the BUFF Malmö Film Festival in Sweden and has since screened at several major festivals, not exclusively those dedicated to young audiences, including festivals in Kristiansand, Zlín, Pula and Zurich.
Andrea Szelesová’s animated short for children, Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe!, which premiered at the Berlinale, has also enjoyed a successful festival run, with screenings in Stockholm, Kristiansand, Zlín, New York, Sydney, Shanghai, Annecy, Ottawa and many other cities. It is part of the Sparks Competition lineup in Amsterdam.
The non-competitive Out of Competition Features section will screen Tales from the Magic Garden, directed by David Súkup, Patrik Pašš, Leon Vidmar and Jean-Claude Rozec. The film also premiered in the same section of the Berlin-based festival (Generation Kplus).
