Members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) voted in the first round and selected nominees for the Slovak National Film Award The Sun in a Net 2017 in particular categories. The Award is given by Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) since 2004, until last year held as biennial.
The Academy were considering 20 submitted films, from which only 10 get nominee. Most nominations went to The Teacher (dir. Jan Hřebejk, 13 nominations) and A Prominent Patient (dir Julius Ševčík, 12 nominations); followed by I, Olga Hepnarová (dir. Tomáš Weinreb, Petr Kazda, 5 nominations), Stanko (dir. Rastislav Boroš, 4 nominations) and The Red Captain (dir. Michal Kollár, 3 nominations).
The Sun in a Net 2017 Gala Ceremony will take place on April 7, 2017. The Slovak National Awards ceremony is held witihin the Slovak Film Week (April 3 – 9, 2017).
