The 12th edition of Transilvania IFF (May 31 – June 9, 2013) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania marks a significant presentation of Slovak films: in a section dedicated to Slovakia, it will screen seven Slovak both archive and new films, and the debut by Iveta Grófová Až do mesta Aš will moreover compete for the Transilvania Trophy, among others.
Together with further eleven films, the debut of Iveta Grófová Made in Ash (2012), recently awarded at Crissing Euope IFF in Linz, will be presented in the festival´s Competition, introduced by the director.
Focus: Slovakia presents seven films: besides Slovak film classics The Sun in a Net (by Štefan Uher, 1962) and Birdies, Orphans and Fools (by Juraj Jakubisko, 1969), new Slovak fiction films – Fine, Thanks (by Mátyás Prikler, 2013), My Dog Killer (by Mira Fornay, 2013) and Dancing on Broken Glass (by Marek Ťapák, 2012), and recent documentaries – New Life of Family Album (by Adam Oľha, 2012) and Bells of Happiness (by Marek Šulík & Jana Bučka, 2012), will be introduced. Film director Mátyás Prikler, protagonists Mária and Terézia Oľhová (New Life of Family Album) and producer Juraj Buzalka (My Dog Killer) will be present at the event. Alexandra Strelková, representative of the Slovak Film Institute representative, will introduce both classics.
The organizers of the Slovak section are: Slovak Film Institute, the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic and Transilvania IFF, in co-operation with the Embassy of Slovak Republic in Bucharest, Romania.
