Ready to compete at Warsaw Film Festival
11. October 2018

Three Slovak and co-production films will vie for the Warsaw Grand Prix at the 34th Warsaw Film Festival (October 12 – 21, 2018).

The Band (dir. Ladislav Kaboš), documentary about the birth of the Romani band Lomnické Čháve will compete in Documentary Competition along with Circus Rwanda (dir. Michal Varga) that shows the clash of cultures by fusing two circus groups from different parts of the world.

The Short Film Competition will introduce bachelor film Poetika Anima by Kriss Sagan. Non-narrative animated film is based on a lyrical poem created by the synthesis of the director’s diary notes. „I decided to make a „simple and nice“ film that will make me put all my free time and energy in. I wanted to enjoy the production process without having high expectations. I am not a good storyteller so I decided to focus on defining my auteur-signature and narrative style. It took a leap into the dark but now I can say it was a good decision. “ said the director in an interview for Kinečko.

Slovakia will have its representative also in the Industry section of the festival. Tomáš Hudák will take part in the FIPRESCI Warsaw Critics Project, workshop for young aspiring journalists and film critics.
