Slovak films compete at Zlín Film Festival 2023

The 63rd edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth Zlín Film Festival (1 – 7 June 2023) will present new Slovak films, feature films, short and student films will be competing in various programme sections.

In the International Competition of Feature Films in the Children’s Category (up to 10 years of age), Mira Fornay’s She – Hero, world premiered at this year’s Berlinale, will vie for the prize as well as the stop-motion animated film Tony, Shelly and the Magic Light directed by Filip Pošivač.

Five short films will compete in the International Competition of Student Films Zlín Dog: Two Souls, One Mind (dir. Matej Molnár), I Don’t Want to Go Yet (dir. Klára Fedora Homzová), After the Wedding (dir. Matej Kľúčik), Mixed (dir. Veronika Valentová) and Rave to the Grave (dir. Vladimír Horník).

Filip Diviak’s short animated film My Name Is Edgar and I Have a Cow will compete in the International Competition of Short Animations for Children (up to 12 years of age).

The New Czech Films and TV Programmes section will present two Slovak films, the drama Victim by Michal Blaško and the fairy tale Krakonoš’s Secret by Peter Bebjak.
