The Slovenian Cinematheque in Ljubljana will present selection of Slovak films made mostly during the ‘Golden Era’ of 1960s as a part of the Czech-Slovak Film Days showcase (September 10 – 12, 2019). Next week, the Cinemathèque du Documentaire in Paris will screen Milan Černák’s medium length film World Ski Championships (1970) at Centre Pompidou.
Strong representation of Slovak cinema is heading to the 76th Venice International Film Festival (August 28 – September 7, 2019).
The 45th anniversary edition of the Summer Film School Uherské Hradište will traditionally give special attention to Slovak cinema. Beside fourteen Slovak feature-length films, contemporary works of film school students and selected shorts will be presented.
The 59th edition of the Zlín Film Festival for children and youth (May 24 – June 1, 2019), with its main topic Discover & Explore, will screen Slovak features and shorts in multiple program sections.
Every year, the Anifilm International Festival of Animated Film presents current trends, methods, technologies and animation techniques in its programme. This edition (May 7 – 12, 2019) will also introduce several Slovak and co-production films to the festival audience within different programme sections, while two projects in development will be presented at the CEE Animation Forum.
On April 30, 2019 the internationally renowned Kino Tuškanac in Zagreb will screen Pictures of the Old World by Dušan Hanák and a program of Slovak experimental documentary shorts made in 1960s and 1970s.
Finále Plzeň Film Festival will show 16 Slovak films at its 32nd edition, four of which are up for prizes.
The Sixth edition of Czech & Slovak Film Festival that takes place on March 27 – 31, 2019 in Sydney, Australia will showcase six Slovak feature films and five shorts.
This March, the book salon Livre Paris presents 25 Slovak books that have been translated to French. As Bratislava is City of Focus, Kino Visegrad together with The Centre for Information on Literature prepared a film showcase in cinema Christine 21 starting on 14 March. Kino Visegrad Présent: Bratislava. Au bord, au centre lasts for four days, with the last screening on 17 March 2019.
