The 63rd edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth Zlín Film Festival (June 1 – 7, 2023) will present new Slovak films, feature films, short and student films will be competing in various programme sections.
A Happy Man, a feature doc debut by Soňa G. Lutherová, will celebrate its world premiere at the biggest North American documentary festival Hot Docs in Toronto (April 27 – May 7, 2023). The film was selected for The Changing Face of Europe programme co-organized by the European Film Promotion.
The Czech and Slovak Film Festival in Australia (CaSFFA) will screen Peter Solan’s classic The Barnabáš Kos Case (1964) in March. The festival, which is known for showcasing Slovak and Czech cinema in the first spring month, will be taking place from March 24 to April 2, 2023 in Sydney. In addition to Solan’s film, thirteen contemporary Slovak long and short films will also be featured at the festival.
The prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (27 January – 4 February 2023) will present student film Liquid Bread by Alica Bednáriková in the International Competition, while the Slovak Film Institute will offer an informational and promotional point for Slovak cinema at the Short Film Market (30 January – 1 February 2023) for the fifth time.
The 52nd edition (25 January – 5 February 2023) of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, one of the world’s renowned festivals, will feature a world premiere of new Slovak drama Power and three digitally restored films from the collections of the National Film Archive of the Slovak Film Institute.
The Trieste Film Festival is one of the largest festivals dedicated to Central and Eastern European cinema. The 34th festival’s edition (Januray 21 – 28, 2023) will screen a total of seven feature-length and four short Slovak films.
Cottbus Film Festival (November 8 – 13, 2022), which is one of the most important events focusing on Eastern European cinema, starts today. It will bring 12 Slovak films.
Prestigious Amsterdam documentary film festival IDFA (9 – 20 November 2022) will present one Slovak film in this year’s program and there is even more Slovak participants at the industry events.
26th edition of Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (October 25 – 30, 2022) will honour Dušan Hanák with Contribution to World Cinema Award. Festival will also present 19 Slovak films, multiple of them in world premiere.
