The 6th edition of the International Festival of Animated Films Anifilm in Trebon, Czech Republic (May 5 – 10, 2015) introduces an interesting official competition program as well as a platform for film professionals Visegrad Animation Forum.
For the second time, the competition sections of Finale Plzen (Pilsen, Czech Republic) were opened for Slovak films to participate in the Festival´s four official competitions and scored two of the main Golden Kingfisher awards: for the Best Documentary and the Best TV Serial Production.
FUTURE FRAMES: Ten new filmmakers to follow is a new programme by the European Film Promotion and Karlovy Vary IFF to be introduced at the 50th anniversary edition of the festival (July 3 – 11, 2015). A selection of ten young directors and their films – all in Czech premieres – will be presented to the public, film industry and press during the event running from July 5 – 7, 2015.
This year during the Cannes IFF, Slovakia will be represented in the Producers on the Move (organized by the European Film Promotion, Slovak Film Institute being a member), as well: the Slovak “POM” is Marek Urban (sentimentalfilm).
Children (2014), the fiction debut by the renowned Slovak documentary filmmaker Jaro Vojtek was screened in the Official Selection – Competition of the 5th Beijing IFF in its international premiere.
The 28th edition of the yearly retrospective and competition showcase of Czech and since last year Slovak films, as well, Finále Plzeň (26. 4. – 2. 5. 2015) will host a significant number of Slovak titles produced in the last year.
The debut feature by documentary filmmaker Jaro Vojtek Children (SK-CZ 2014) was announced as a Tiantan Award nominee, which will be granted by a seven-member jury composed of Luc Besson, Fyodor Bondarchuk, Peter Chan, Robert Mark Kamen, Kim Ki-duk, Fernando Meirelles a Zhou Xun at the 5th Beijing IFF (April 16 – 24, 2015).
