Slovak films will be proudly presented at different festivals throughout Europe during October, as well: they will be travelling through in England, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, to visit Poland, at last.

London will arise with films in October: 10. – 21. 10. 2012 the 56th edition of the prestigious BFI London will take place and will offer internationally recognized films from all over the world. The successful Slovak title and the Slovak national Oscar nominee Made in Ash (dir. Iveta Grófová, 2012), which, after its premiere at the 47th Karlovy Vary IFF is available in Slovak cinemas at the moment, will be presented in a section aiming to suprise, argue and scrutinize: Debate. The film will be personally presented by the director Iveta Grófová.

5th CinEast Luxembourg
The 5th edition of the festival dedicated to films coming from Central and Eastern Europe CinEast will be held in Luxembourg 11. – 28. 10. 2012. Director Iveta Grófová will personally present her film Made in Ash (2012) within the Competition section, the festival will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Czechoslovak New Wave classic The Sun in a Net (dir. Štefan Uher, 1962). In the Back to the Roots section two Slovak films will be screened: Gypsy (dir. Martin Šulík, 2011) and Alois Nebel (dir. Tomáš Luňák, 2011). The Luxembourg audience will also be able to watch some of the most successful short films from the last two years – The Last Bus (dir. Ivana Laučíková, Martin Snopek, 2011), The Star (dir. Andrej Kolenčík, 2012), tWINs (dir. Peter Budinský, 2011) a Are You Feelin’ Good? (dir. Matúš Krajňák, 2011).

The festival will present a programme for film professionals this year for the first time: CinEast Pro – Co-production Workshop for Central and East European Countries. The general idea behind the workshop is to take advantage of the network of contacts established by the organisers of the CinEast festival during its five years of existence, and to arrange a meeting between film professionals from the Central and Eastern European countries represented at the festival and producers and institutions in Luxembourg. The Slovak Film Institute representative at the event will be Alexandra Strelková.
20th Film Indian Summer Třínec
The Film Indian Summer Třínec held in Czech Republic, will be celebrating its 20th anniversary 11. – 14. 10. 2012. Several Slovak films will be presented with its programme: the Debute Competition will screen the films Tigers in the City (2012) by Juraj Krasnohorský, along with the co-production titles Alois Nebel (dir. Tomáš Luňák, 2011) and DONT STOP (dir. Richard Řeřicha, 2012). The Last Season’s Hits will feature films Angels (dir. Róbert Šveda, 2012), Confidant (dir. Juraj Nvota), Lóve (dir. Jakub Kroner) and the co-production title – the Czech national Oscar nominee – In the Shadow (dir. David Ondříček, 2012).

10th Tofifest IFF Toruń
Slovak films will stay in Poland for the end of October: the debut of director Iveta Grófová Made in Ash (2012) will be presented in the competition of first and second features ON AIR. at the Tofifest IFF in Toruń (20. – 26. 10. 2012). The festival will give a significant space for Slovak documentaries in the Cultural Exchange section: the Toruń audience have the possibility to watch the successful and awarded Osadné (2009) by Marko Škop, The Border (2009) by Jaro Vojtek and two documentaries by Zuzana Piussi – The Disease of the Third Power (2011) and Men of Revolution (2012).
