Julius Ševčík’s feature film A Prominent Patient with Czech actor Karel Roden as the main lead Jan Masaryk will be presented at Berlinale 2017 (February 9 – 19, 2017) in its world premiere. The film was selected for the section Berlinale Special.
The renowned Polish director Agnieszka Holland will introduce her new film Spoor at Berlinale 2017 (Feb 9 – 19, 2017). The film was also co-produced by newly established Slovak production company nutprodukcia.
Brussels will host two film gatherings with a special focus on Slovak cinema in December and January.
The 11th edition of MUCES – Segovia European Film Festival (November 16 – 22, 2016) kicks off featuring Slovak cinema retrospective! A selection of the most iconic titles in the history of Slovak cinematography includes films from the very beginning to the most contemporary ones.
The FF Black Nights Tallinn (Nov 11 -27, 2016) opens its 20th edition! The festival traditionally presents Slovak films and this year is not an exception. Slovak films The Red Captain by Michal Kollár and Little Feather by Lucia Klein Svoboda, Petr Klein Svoboda will be introduced here in the international premieres.
Six Slovak films will be presneted at the 26th edition of FilmFestival Cottbus (Nov 8 – 13, 2016), the important festival of Eastern European Cinema.
Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary! Kicking off on October 25, 2016 the festival will show a number of Slovak films screened not only in the competition section but also within accompanying events, workshops and masterclasses. The jubilee edition lasts until October 30, 2016.
Five Slovak animated films are prepared for the screening at the 23rd International Animation Festival of Brazil Anima Mundi (October 25 – 30, 2016, Rio de Janeiro and November 2 – 6, 2016 Sao Paulo).
