The Intl Festival of Documentary and Animation Films DOK Leipzig (28. 10. – 3. 11. 2013) will be welcoming three Slovak films  in its programme.

Slovak animation shorts aimed at different target groups are having a successful October: while Pandas by Matúš Vizár received the Short Grand Prix for the Best Short Film at the Warsaw IFF, the Slovak TV series for children Mimi and Lisa by Katarína Kerekesová received the award for the Best Animation Television Series at the Tofuzi festival in Georgia.

Martin Šulik, who is considered one of the most outstanding film directors from Slovakia will be a special guest to the 11th edition of Tofifest 2013 (21.10-27.10.2013).

The 57th edition of BFI London will take place and will offer internationally recognized films from all over the world Slovakia included.

The 6th edition of the festival dedicated to films coming from eastern and central Europe will be held in Luxembourg.

On Wednesday, October 9, the 21st showcase of czech, polish and slovak films starts in czech Hrčava and will last until October 13. Two slovak feature debuts, Mátyás Prikler’s Fine, thanks (2013),also presented to the audience at IFF Rotterdam 2013, and Juraj Lehotský’s Miracle (2013) recently premiered in the slovak cinemas, will take a part in competition for the Golden Debut Award.

The Slovak Film and Television Academy decided to nominate the film MY DOG KILELR (orig. Môj pes Killer) by Mira Fornay as the Slovak entry for the Best Foreign Language Film of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) Awards, also known as the Oscars.

The European Film Academy and EFA Productions have announced the titles of the 46 films on this year’s selection list, the list of films recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2013. Among them is the Slovak-Czech film by Mira Fornay – My Dog Killer (2013).
